Provence is a flower lovers dream with numerous fields scattered across the region. Particularly in the early summertime during lavender season, when you are greeted with long symmetrical lines of purple, tall expanses of bright yellow, happy bees buzzing away and intoxicating floral scents. The surrounding landscapes are beautiful and there are heaps of interesting elements to incorporate into your imagery to tell a story.
Lavender Season in Provence:
Mid – June to early July (subject to climate conditions)
When to visit:
5:30pm – sunset (approx. 9:30pm)
The light is the most flattering during this time and the fields tend to be less crowded.
Where to visit:
Here are some of my favourite places to experience the lavender and sunflower fields in Provence. There are many, many more fields throughout Provence and half the fun is leisurely driving around and discovering them. Happy exploring!
Moustiers – Sainte – Marie
Along the D952
Along the D56
Along the D8 towards Mas Saint – Andrieux (located off the D8 on a dirt road)
