The things you miss as an expat can be interesting at times. One thing that definitely didn’t come as a surprise however was longing for afternoon sea breezes on a sweltering summer day. Needless to say several days into a Parisian heat wave (think New York humidity) we hopped on a train to the Normandy coast for some much needed vitamin sea.
Whilst there were no hot chips or potato scallops to be found, the feeling of sand between my toes, salt on my skin and sea breeze through my hair provided an instant sense of calm and contentment. There are two wonderful beaches that a short walking distance from the station, however my favourite would have to be Deauville Beach. With it’s cute boardwalk and iconic umbrellas that provided delightful pops of colour along the sand.
A wonderful seaside day trip for those of you wanting to escape the summer heat in Paris.
