As someone with a continually growing wish list of places to explore and a tendency to mentally map out ‘the next trip’ you could definitely say that I have a case of the travel bug. Sure I really love travel planning (it is often half the fun!) but I think it’s important to be mindful of the magic that awaits you in the everyday and not live ‘trip to trip’ so to speak. Whether that be picking up fresh blooms at the markets, afternoon strolls, taking time out to leisurely sip a cup of tea or playing tourist in your city.
Often all it takes is a fresh perspective.
As was the case recently one Sunday morning when I decided to change up the weekend routine and rise before the sun to visit Bondi Beach. In what I can only think to describe as a serendipitous series of events I saw this dreamy part of the world through a tourist’s eyes. En route I paused from applying my SPF and looked out the bus window. I was greeted with glistening golden light reflecting off the dreamy waves of blue water. A sight that had initiated multiple gasps of both awe and surprise from the tourists sitting nearby. A view I appreciated even more when I realised that for some of the people around me it was in fact their first time visiting a beach.
Experiencing one of my favourite Sydney spots with a new perspective was just what I needed that morning. A valued reminder to keep an open mind and seek out all the magical moments that await us…
