Yellow dalmatian

This may be the cutest jumper ever. The adorable dalmatian motif looks lovely with the yellow background. I like combining playful, feminine pieces such as this jumper with leather to add a bit of edge.

Lace shorts

Photos by Max Rowan

I love my new lace shorts. They are a great fit and so comfortable to wear. I really like the cute bow belt and versatile cream colour. I tend to opt for skirts versus shorts but this pair will make plenty of appearances this spring/summer I'm sure.

Seeing spots

Images via Topshop, collage by Dark Blue Stripes

I am currently obsessed with all things polka dots. My love for polka dots was reignited after wearing a polka dot skirt a few weeks ago in an outfit post here. Polka dot prints are so energetic, fun and add that needed something to an outfit. It has been rainy and cold in Sydney so far this weekend, so I have been cooped up inside my apartment gazing at all the pretty polka dot pieces I want/need to have in my wardrobe. Here are my favourite picks that are currently on offer from Topshop. I could not resist placing an order for the adorable Polka Dot Crochet Collar Swing Top and amazing Spot Ankle Grazer Trousers

Are you also a fan of polka dots? If you are, which piece is your favourite?

Birds

Photos by Max Rowan

Hello Spring! Or should I say early summer? I wore this outfit last Sunday, which was a fantastically warm and sunny day. It felt really good not having to wear tights and having the sun on my skin. The skirt is really comfortable and fun to wear with its interesting bird print. It was very windy when these shots were taken however, making it feel like the skirt was indeed taking 'flight'.

Neutrals

Photos by Max Rowan

If the weather this weekend is anything to go by this may be the last outfit post where I am wearing tights. I wore this outfit Saturday afternoon for a lovely dinner and movie date with my boyfriend. It was too hot during the day to wear tights however the temperature cooled down in the afternoon. Today however it was far too hot to even consider wearing tights so it seems this outfit marks the end of tights weather and the beginning of light summer dressing. At least I got to wear my favourite tights with comfortable, feminine, neutral pieces. I do love wearing tights however am very much looking forward to all the wonderful summer weather to come.

Icons of style

Peggy: Season 2, Episode 2 "Flight 1"

Betty: Season 2, Episode 8 "A Night to Remember"

Betty: Season 2, Episode 13 "Meditations in an Emergency"

Joan: Season 2 Promo Shoot

Peggy: Season 4 Promo Photos

Last week I went to Chatswood Chase Sydney to view the Icons of Style exhibition. Considering Mad Men is hands down my favourite television show I could not pass up the opportunity to view the glamorous, well constructed garments that have been featured on the show. Mad Men costume designer Janie Bryant curated a great mix of sixties office, housewife and cocktail looks for the exhibition. My favourite outfit is the second look in this post that was worn by Betty in season two. I love the fun playful silhouette of the chiffon polka dot dress worn with stunning blue satin heels.

More information on the Icons of Style exhibition can be found here. The exhibition can be viewed until October 2nd at Chatswood Chase Sydney, Chadstone and QueensPlaza.

Winter or spring?

Photos by Max Rowan

The weather has been going hot and cold over the last week making it difficult to select appropriate outfits to wear throughout the day. One day it feels like spring or summer whilst the next day resembles winter. Last Sunday was particularly cold and windy forcing me to take a coat out of the wardrobe and layer up. Just when I thought coat weather was behind me. I decided to wear this ASOS sixties style coat. If the cold weather forces you to layer up you might as well make it fun by wearing mood lifting, colourful pieces.

VFNO

Photos by Max Rowan

Last Thursday night I attended Vogue Fashion's Night Out. It was a fantastic celebration of all things fashion with retailers treating customers to special promotions, freebies and various goodies such as cute cupcakes, heart lollipops, popcorn and mini hot chocolates.

The Vogue FNO Hunt was a lot of fun. It was great to see people wandering around the CBD madly refreshing their Twitter profiles for clue updates. Other VFNO highlights included the seventies disco inside Tiffany and Co and the Armani Exchange window models dancing along with the crowd. Overall it was a very entertaining evening celebrating fashion and supporting the cause Fashion Targets Breast Cancer.

To those of you that attended one of the VFNO around the globe what was the highlight?
